CATTLE EXHIBITOR OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2026
CATTLE SECTION CLASSES
“
The aim of the competition is to encourage exhibitors to exhibit prime Cattle throughout the Breconshire Shows and increasing entries in both sections thereby supporting and promoting local agriculture.

Rules
- Please note that the ‘Cattle Exhibitor of the Year’ Competition is open to exhibitors of all ages.
- Exhibitors participating in the Cattle Sections at Breconshire Shows will gain 1 point per exhibit per class at each show they attend.
- Further points will be awarded for any placing in the top three prize positions - as follows: 1st 3 points, 2nd 2 points, 3rd 1 point.
- Exhibitors Please Note that the entries must ONLY be for the individual animal classes. (The following must not be included in the total scores - Champions, Reserve Champions, Pairs or Groups)
- Qualifying Shows - Beulah, Brecon, Cwmdu, Erwood, Felinfach, Gwenddwr, Libanus, Llanafan, Llanfihangel Talyllyn, Llangynidr, Llanigon, Llanwrtyd Wells & District, Lower Chapel, Llyswen, Sennybridge, Trecastle, Vaynor, Ystradfellte
- Prior to exhibiting at the first show of the season exhibitors must obtain entry forms from the Society Administrator, Brecknockshire Agricultural Society, C/o HBF Depot, Ffrwdgrech Industrial Estate, Llanfaes, Brecon, LD3 8AL. Telephone 01874 611881
- Entries forms must be completed and signed by the Exhibitor and Show Secretary/Steward.
- All completed forms must be submitted to the Show Administrator at Brecknockshire Agricultural Society office by 1st October 2026. Paper Entry ONLY
YOUNG LIVESTOCK EXHIBITOR OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2026
SHEEP SECTION CLASSES
The aim of the competition is to encourage the younger generation to exhibit prime Sheep throughout the Breconshire Shows and increasing entries in both sections thereby supporting and promoting local agriculture.
The Young Exhibitor must be 26 years and under before the start of the 2026 showing season in Breconshire

3rd Prize £50 kindly donated by The Brecknockshire Agricultural Society
4th Prize £30 kindly donated by The Brecknockshire Agricultural Society
5th Prize £20 kindly donated by The Brecknockshire Agricultural Society
Rules
- Exhibitors allowing livestock to be handled by children under the age of 16 years must arrange their own adult supervision at all times, even if competing in a ‘Young Handler’ competition.
- The Young Exhibitor must be 26 years and under before the start of the 2026 showing season in Breconshire (26 years and under on 1st July 2026)
- Young exhibitors must show the animal themselves in the ring (unless the show rules/steward state that they must be accompanied by an adult)
- Animals may be entered in the owner’s name (as per show rules) and may be used by a Youngster to exhibit in the classes.
- Exhibitors participating in the Sheep Sections at Breconshire Shows will gain 1 point per exhibit per class at each show they attend and please note, only one exhibit per class is allowed.

PLEASE NOTE: The Young Handler of the Year Competition 2026 (15 years and under - entered in only the Young Handlers Competition) is a separate competition to The Gwynne Griffiths Tregaer Award – therefore points gained towards the Young Handler Award cannot be duplicated for The Gwynne & Joyce Griffiths Tregaer Award – there will be separate entry forms for each award.
